MEMBER’S BOOK: A FLOWER BETWEEN THE CRACKS!
One of our members has published an AMAZING book telling the story of her ABI journey. I have read the book and it is wonderful and I strongly support this personal account of life after ABI. My favourite section reads:
” …The truth is we have crossed a bridge to another land; a land not inhabited by many, a land we did not wish to inhabit or explore. In finding ourselves in this land, however, we do not feel poor or dispitied or diminished. We feel strong, open and more knowing. This land is not full of gloom or bereft of meaning. Rather it is filled with keys to what is real and important.’
Please, if you are able, share the following links for the book itself:

and there is also a link to the radio interview which discusses the book and the family experience of brain injury.

Poem by Management Committee Member:
Don’t Stop Imagining
Have you imagined a life, a life you were supposed to live
A life in which you could take, a life in which you could give
Disappointments, lost dreams and failures have now become the norm
Reality has become the new dawn
Cherish memories of the past, not with bitterness or regret
Life is too fleeting and your past deserves more respect
A new beginning is required of us all
If we dwell in the mire, we will surely fall
It is time to accept ourselves, our new life as it be
Accept help, demand help and you will learn to see
There are others who care
And are willing to share
Doing it alone you will reach the end of your tether
We can achieve freedom if we work together

THE LIFE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO LIVE
Have you imagined a life you were supposed to live?
Has that life has been taken away from you,
through circumstance beyond your control?
Are you stuck in the past?
To help you move forward,
write down all your disappointments, lost dreams and failures.
Even if you still have a dream,
say good bye to the way in which it was in your life,
so that you can
create room for reality
and a new beginning
(Your new normal).
Once this is done,
your past becomes your history,
and the only way it can affect your present is if
you keep going back.
MOVE FORWARD
IT CAN BE EXCITING
Sometimes before you can create something new,
you need to say goodbye to the past and your
dreams.
